Dr. George “BJ” Deimel is a fellowship trained, non-operative sports and musculoskeletal medicine specialist. Originally from Malvern, Arkansas, Dr. Deimel moved to Fayetteville to attend the University of Arkansas where he received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in exercise physiology. After completing his medical education at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Dr. Deimel did his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. This was followed by an additional year of fellowship training in Sports and Musculoskeletal Medicine at the University of Utah.
Dr. Deimel has always felt that exercise is the foundation of any successful treatment program. Dr. Deimel’s care philosophy centers around helping people lead more active and productive lives. PM&R was a perfect fit for him as this field focuses on restoring functional abilities by addressing underlying injuries and biomechanical deficits while alleviating pain using a variety of therapeutic modalities and non-operative interventions. He has special interests in tendon dysfunction, regenerative medicine in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, comprehensive spine care, electrodiagnostic studies and the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnostic and interventional purposes.
As part of his fellowship training, Dr. Deimel had the opportunity to work with a variety of athletes ranging from weekend warriors to professional. He deemed his work with the Olympic athletes in their preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia as a career highlight. Dr. Deimel has also had the opportunity to publish many scientific articles and textbook chapters on the rehabilitation of sports injuries and has spoken nationally regarding the use of ultrasound for diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.
Dr. Deimel lives with his wife and two children in Rogers, Arkansas. He and his family enjoy spending time outdoors and are active in their community.
